I usually have long nerves, but when something big is about to happen, I want it fast! Like now, I’m almost done with Helsinki and about to start (potentially last year of) studies in Tampere. So I see no point in pinch and scraping these few last days Helsinki, when I can’t really do anything well since everything has to be packed and scrubbed by Friday night (Okay, the real reason I’m eager to move on from Helsinki might have something to do with the fact that I already watched all the episodes of Pretty Little Liars during this summer and now I don’t have anything fun to do on a lonely night at home! :D).
What makes this impatience worse, is that I don’t have to feel wistful at all, a contract (YAY!) I made today at work makes sure that I will be called in the future if extra-work-force is necessary. So Helsinki, I might be leaving but you won’t get rid of me so easily. 😉
Anyways, I have so many plans for fall I want to start carrying out. Having get-togethers with my gals, styling home with J, maybe even starting to write my masters thesis (MAYBE!)… And I’m actually excited about going to the university’s gym and exercising after a run-full summer. Can you believe it, the girl who spent weeks coming up with excuses to avoid PE-classes in middle school and who would have wanted to count the walk from the couch to the fridge as a proper work-out? Yep, woke up today at 6 am, just to have time for a run before work. I don’t even know myself anymore! If some people are still looking for their own inspiration, I bumped into this site Reasons to be fit. As dumb as some of the “wisdom’s” sound, I came a bit more enthusiastic because some of them.
“Because you never know what you can accomplish before you try”. So I just want skip this tangled end-of-summer-phase and jump to the new start — to try and to accomplish.
Last weeks I’ve been up to everything summery, I’ve been trying to absorb all the rays of the sun since it’s almost September already. In the end of next week I will already move back to Tampere, omg! Well, I already took kind of a false start to fall by spending last weekend in there too. Here’s some of the best spots in both cities, Helsinki and Tampere, for a sunny day.
I got to taste my own medicine yesterday, when I was photographed for the biggest news / photo agency of Finland. My dear friend K works there and she of course
forced me kindly suggested that perhaps I could be interviewed about sharing an apartment with a roommate, when her colleagues couldn’t find anyone else to interview.
I’ve used to watching the news picture flow at work, but boy was it weird seeing my picture in the middle of politicians, Finnish olympic medalists and actors.
Don’t know how many newspapers are going to use the pictures in the end, but a familiar face popped up at least here.
P.S. My blog had first anniversary a while ago. I published my first post 11th of August 2011. Back then I was heading to Paris and also the trip to Asia was ahead… It feels like so long ago!
Thanks for all the follows and likes I’ve gotten during the past year, makes me think someone might actually want to read this. 🙂
Summer has gone by way too fast, it’s already my last month in Helsinki! So here’s a few pics from what it’s like in here. These are from few weeks back when I got all touristy with my friend M. I should have done that more often, days of August are dwindling away and I haven’t done half of the things I planned to do while I’m in here. Well, I’m not sure yet what fall has to offer (work-wise), if anything. But you never know, I might just find myself here more often…
The Bridge of Love Helsinki-style. These things have just found their way to every city nowadays, huh?
I think the old buildings, boats and the sea are the best sides of the capital city.
This cathedral is probably the best known landmark in town…
M in Suomenlinna (Viaborg). This summer the weather has been pretty unsuitably cold for picnics, so all the cute island-picnics I’ve planned are still on my to-do-list.
…Spent all my money on flight tickets I mean. Well, now I have something to be excited for again. On Christmas break I’ll be heading to this exotic destination: Nicaragua!!!
But it won’t be all fun and pleasure, we’ll be there with my friend K for less than two weeks so it means some hard work since our goal is to get at least four stories done for some mags and newspapers. Well I don’t mind photographing and anyways, after Nicaragua I’ll fly to my old exchange student hoods in Minnesota, USA, for a couple of days mini-vacation before heading back to Finland so it won’t get too stressfull work-trip. 😀
Yay! Could it be the end of December yet?
