This Year

IMG_7308Looking back, this year seems to have been mostly awesome. So many great experiences, some amazing trips, and a few dreams that came true… Feeling quite blessed! What I tried this year, was to follow my heart and dreams. And as I have noticed myself and with few of my friends that have been doing that too, it really pays of.

The year started with K in Nicaragua with a freelance-work trip. Then I continued for week in Minnesota, and I'm glad I did.

For example, to tell you the truth, when we booked to the flight tickets for the mini US-road trip with K last spring — that’s something I’ve been wanting to do for years all ready — I wasn’t sure I’ll have money to go through with the plan. Then, like a miracle, I got a job for fall and the problem was solved.

In February I got to spend couple of days in my all-time favorite: Stockholm.

Next year seems busier than ever work-wise, so I’m happy I have had the chance to see so many great places this year. That’s always the dilemma with traveling: no work, no money, and if you have money, no time because of work. So I’ll doubt I’ll be a lot more on Finnish soil the following year, even though I wouldn’t mind a few get-a-ways… We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. πŸ˜‰

In May we escaped to Poland, Gdansk for an extended weekend with my parents.

September, living the American dream, or more like my dream, with K!!!! <3

September, living the American dream, or more like my dream, with K!!!!Β  I counted we spent a month together on American grounds with K this year, if you count Nicaragua and the time in the US. Hope there’s new adventures ahead of us too, even though it will be hard to compete with the places we saw this year!

Since September I've been firmly in Finland. But it's okay, because from the beginning of February I've had this pile of hair to brighten up my days. Life never get's boring with a chihuahua.

Not In Hollywood Anymore…

Right now the view out of my window is like this:

Yeah, I arrived in Minnesota on Monday. Pretty different, when end of last week looked like this:

San Francisco sights.

Can’t complain.

Dreams Come True

I mentioned a while ago how I’m dreaming about a “bigger” trip for fall. And now, it is actually happening!!!

I was really struggling with the money issue — can I go, can’t I go, how do I live until the trip? But I think I’ve got it covered and why wait, when I can still travel young? Sure I have to cut down some expenses, make sacrifices from other things, but I’d rather see the world now, when I still have a body that works and eyes that actually see.

So here we go, to the United States in September! Is there a better way to end a summer? It’s my fourth visit to US ever, but I’m going to see lots of new places. First Miami and the Keys for few days, then flying out to LA and probably roadtripping up to San Fransisco and to Grand Canyon etc. And then I can digest everything new in safe and sound Minnesota. Ah, I’ve been looking forward to warm summer days, but now I almost wish it would be fall already! πŸ™‚

Dreaming is just the best thing ever invented and even better when you can make those dreams come true… We seem to be quite a team in this travel-dreams-come-true-project with my friend K.  ❀

Back in the States

It’s funny how in one single day you can travel from someplace to an other completely different. Like from a development country to a country there’s Β more than enough of everything. From a small dirty room with a broken fan to a big air-conditioned house where the bathroom is bigger than the room you left from (and there’s enough towels to build a tent to live in!). It’s funny how you can visit a textile factory on Tuesday and see the workers working with a minimum wage, and on Saturday shop the clothes made in that same factory from America’s biggest mall. It’s funny when your phone doesn’t have reception at all, and suddenly you are texting with your smartphone and updating your blog with an iPad.

So yes, even many of the things above are possible in Central America too, I’m definitely out from Nicaragua already, back in the US after nearly five years from my last visit. And the contrast between these two countries feels huge, even though you can get from Miami to Managua in only two and a half hours. Crazy! But it’s nice to be back on the familiar neighborhoods, cold fresh Minnesotan air feels comfortable and cozy after sweating for two weeks. But coming straight from Nicaragua sure makes me realize how luxurious life can be for many people, and how simple for others…
